Super Typhoon GONI

  • Eastern cost of Philippines was slammed into by a powerful super typhoon Goni on 1st Nov.
  • Typhoon Goni hit the catanduanes province with wind of 225 km/hour and gusts of 280 km/hr, it also affected dense populated region of the country
  • Recent Typhoons in India-
      • Cyclone Nisarga – Maharashtra, Gujrat
      • Cyclone Amphan – West Bengal, Odisa
      • Cyclone Strom Bulbul – Bangladesh, West Bengal

Gully Boy

  • Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer film Gully Boy awarded with ‘The Best Original Score’ at 14th Asian Film Festival on 28th Oct 2020.
  • The 14th Asian Film Festival was announced virtually .
  • South Korean film Paradise was selected for best film.

Swadhinata Award

  • Swadhinta Award is the highest national award of Bangladesh, this year this award was given to Bharteshwari home and 8 other people.
  • This Award is bestowed upon Bangladeshi citizens and organization in the field of war of liberation, language movement, education etc. since 1997.

Malabar Exercise

  • USA, japan, Australia and India will start the first phase of Malabar Naval exercise on the cost of Vishakhapatnam.
  • Malabar started in 1992 by India and USA, it become trilateral in 2015 with addition of Japan, this year Australia will also join this.
  • INS Ranvijay, INS Shivalik, INS Sukanya, INS Shakti and submarine INS Sindhuraj will participate in 1st phase of exercise. 

Kabartal Wetland and Asan Conservation Reverse

  • Kabartal wetlan in Bihar and Asan conservation reverse in Uttarakhand have been nominated as Ramsar Sites.
  • Now India has total 39 Ramsar Sites including these two, the highest in South Asia
  • Kabartal wetland also known as Kanwar Jheel
  • ACR is 444-hectare area is 1st Ramsar Site of Uttarakhand.
